Our Work
The Darlington County Coordinating Council or DC3 has taken significant interest in Darlington County as a whole, and how the coalition can better serve communities within. The council is made up of several stakeholders: residents, service organizations, healthcare facilities, and local and state government agencies, who are integral in contributing diverse perspectives for a strong and able coalition. By establishing organizational by-laws and convening on a regular schedule, the council collects, reviews, and presents county data in knowing how to meet residents and communities with opportunities for improvement and inclusivity.
In recent times DC3 has embarked on a journey to be able to work with schools and communities as a collaborative partner. Thus, Darlington County’s Vision for Health/Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is a framework and plan, to continue to establish rapport and support in the county it serves. Thus, Darlington County’s Vision for Health/Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is a framework and plan, to continue to establish rapport and support in the county it serves. However, the framework and plan is not a replacement of previous or on-going efforts from other entities within the county, but an extension.
In this document, there are elements of leadership training provided by the South Carolina Office of Rural Health, going through the community health assessment process, and developing a Vision for Health/CHIP. These are all building blocks to help forge a new vision for overall improvement within the county.
